Factory Wheel Outlet was founded in 1998 by the father-and-son team of Ernie and Jim Gilbert.

Ernie and Jim could not understand how dealers could charge up to $1,000 for a factory replacement wheel. Because most wheel replacement costs are billed to insurance companies, dealers have no incentive to offer wholesale prices to an audience with no other options. As a result, there was no relief for consumers seeking to repair, refinish, reface, or replace damaged wheels without involving insurance companies.
